Abstract

ABSTRACT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SELF COMPASSION AND SOCIAL SUPPORT WITH SUBJECTIVE WELL-BEING IN THE FIRST YEAR STUDENTS OF MEDICINE DEPARTMENT AT ANDALAS UNIVERSITY PADANG This study aims to determine the relationship between self-compassion and social support with subjective well-being in first-year students majoring in medicine at Andalas University, Padang. The independent variable in this study is subjective well-being and the dependent variable is self compassion and social support. The measuring instrument used in this study is the self-compassion scale and the social support scale and the subjective well-being scale. The sampling technique in this study using purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study were 130 first year students majoring in medicine. Validity and reliability tests in this study used Alpha Cronbach technique. The results of the validity coefficient on the self-compassion scale moved from rix = 0.400 to rix = 0.735 with a reliability coefficient of α = 0.968 and the social support scale moved from rix = 0.499 to rix = 0.860 with a reliability coefficient of α = 0.939, while on the subjective scale well-being moves from rix = 0.328 to rix = 0.864 with a reliability coefficient of α = 0.962. Based on data analysis, a correlation value is obtained of 0.398 with a significance level of 0.000, which means that the hypothesis is accepted. This shows that there is a significant relationship between self-compassion and social support with subjective well-being among students majoring in medicine at Andalas University.
