Abstract

ABSTRACT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LOCUS OF CONTROL AND CAREER MATURITY ON STUDENTS AT STATE VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL (SMK) 8 PADANG This study aims to see whether there is a relationship between Locus Of Control and Career Maturity in State Vocational High School Students (SMK) Negeri 8 Padang. This study population was 794 students of Class XI and XII Vocational High Schools (SMK). The sampling technique used in this study was simple random sampling, in which the sample was taken from the population randomly without paying attention to the strata contained in the population. The number of samples in this study was 202 people. The test results on the Locus of Control Scale, the validity coefficient moved from 0.364 to 0.705, and Career Maturity moved from 0.385 to 0.727, while the reliability coefficient was 0.937 and 0.931. Hypothesis test results show the magnitude of the correlation coefficient of r = 0.888 with a significance level of p = 0.000. It can conclude that there is a significant relationship between Locus of Control and Career Maturity. Therefore, the hypothesis is accepted. The amount of effective contribution from the locus of control variable with the career maturity obtained from the correlation is 78.9%.
