Abstract

School safety zone (ZoSS) is a government program that started in 2006, this program aims to reduce the number of traffic accidents, especially in areas where there are many school children. The use of ZoSS is still not optimal because there are still many motorized vehicle drivers passing through the ZoSS area at high speed and many pedestrians do not know the rules when crossing the road. The observations made were to determine vehicle volume, driver behavior and the behavior of road pedestrians passing through the ZoSS area. Based on the results of research conducted by the author, it shows that the results of the reliability test, not all indicators reach the limit value of 0.6 or the safe limit, and for the descriptive test results the mean value of the variable X8 is 3.087 with a standard deviation of 0.996, this shows that the obstacles for road users are still high, so it is not yet effective and optimally used by road crossings.
