Abstract

- The branch of Artificial Intelligence science is an expert system that is a combination of expert experience and an inference engine to produce knowledge. With an expert system, a user will get the knowledge that comes from the system, just like meeting an expert. Many cases can be resolved by an expert system, including: in the medical, agricultural, and other fields. In this study, the expert system applies the Bayes method, which is a method that uses probability to determine whether a user is suffering from illness. The case that will be resolved by the expert system is the early detection of cataracts affecting infants and minors. Cataracts in children are generally caused by premature birth, the mother suffers from rubella during pregnancy, the consumption of food during pregnancy. Types of cataracts suffered by infants and children such as Congenital, Juvenile, Traumatic cataracts. The results of this expert system show that children has congenital cataracts by 50% based on the selected symptoms, namely G001, G002, G004, and G012 of a user based on the probability value that a user has.
